Monday the area SENCO went into preschool to discuss the way forward with Ollie (We didn't attend).
She is very pleased with how he has settled in and with the progress he is making.
Ollie is like a sponge . He just absorbs everything around him. Sing a song to him once and he will recite it back to you a thousand times!
The SENCO is no writing up his IEP (individual education plan) which we should receive a copy of next week.
Tuesday was orthotics. Now as in previous post i have said about ho Ollie is having issues with his boots and insole. We don't know what the issue is really it could be that they are just too heavy. Who knows. Now this appointment was meant to be the 'solution finding' one. But no! It was a waste of time. They checked his feet, checked the boot and insoles remeasured his feet and told us "come back in 2 week and we will look into a solution" AHHHHHHHH! So now the poor boy has to suffer for another 2 weeks.
Wednesday we saw the OT.
She had come into preschool do draw up a plan of action to help strengthen his hand and work on his sensory issues. I'm not sure if i ever mentioned but Ollie has a very weak grasp and isn't able to co-ordinate hand movement well or manipulate his hand for want of a better word. So the plan for this is Theraputty.......!! yea you are probably sat there feeling about as clueless as i was! Apparently its a little like play dough but doesn't break up.....
As for his sensory issues we are fortunate Ollie is able to access most areas his major issue though is transition. He really cant cope with changing from one activity to another which is causing a few meltdowns along the way so for this they are try a "Once more then finished" approach and are to be less verbal in there requests.
We will see how it goes.
Today and tomorrow FREE days!!! :)
