So Thursday came and we headed to preschool. Totally expecting to be staying in the same building!... No! The only room they could get for the meeting was across the road in a family centre. Cue mass panic from mummy.
But as ever Ollie coped well. He saw the painting table and that was it!
In the meeting we met the young man who is to be Ollies key worker. He seems very young but he has a lot of experience with special needs and is fluent in signing so although Ollie is a reluctant signer this should help with the communication barrier her has.
I do hope his daddy feels the same but I am pretty confidant that this setting is for the now the right place for Ollie. They will be contacting the LA, OT and the SaLT to get everything in place that needs to be in time for the start date.
Yesterday I received another phone call this time from Ollie OT. She is coming to visit next Weds and bringing along with her a chair for Ollie to try out. I a little worried as she said it was different to the one she suggested in the meeting so here is hoping is not some ugly nasty thing that will for ever dominate our room! But either way he will finally have proper supportive seating.....*Note to self* Must remember to ask her about seating for pre-school!
Yesterday was also a bitter sweet day. We received in the post the final report and diagnosis letter. Just seem much harder seeing it in black and white. But with having a diagnosis so young it means he gets all the correct support, as early intervention is the key.
Included in the final report was a copy if the letter that has been sent to the LEA ( Local Education Authority) Seeing the words "Long term special education need" is quite a mixed bag. I know to some it doesn't mean much but to us its a big thing. Especially as we already have 1 child with long term needs.
Well that about it this week. Its been mainly filled with positives in all aspects and I am very much looking forward to more day with no appointments or meetings......f only eh?!
