As the new year begins it brings us good news. The MRSA that plagued Ollie for so long has finally gone. but just to be on the safe side they are keeping him away from all the other babies.
Its tough and lonely having a child in isolation, the only good thing of it is that through out the time Ollie has been barrier nursed. Meaning that he has one nurse solely to him self 24/7 1 to 1 care to me is so so important for premature babies its just sad there are not enough nurses or money for this to happen.
As the days go one Ollie becomes stronger and bigger although we are still having issues with Apnea, Bradycardia and De-sats. I don't think i ever explained.
Apnea is where the person stops breathing and more often than not need a little poke to get them going again.
De-sats or De-saturation's is where the oxygen level in the blood is very low a normal level would be around the 97/98/99% mark Ollie would quite often fall into the 60% and once to 36% and would need oxygen to bring him back up
Bradycardia is where the hear rate drops Normal is around 120-160 beats per minute Ollie's would go down to 80 sometimes lower.
After 5 long weeks of isolation we finally said good bye to the incubator

And hello big boy cot
Day by day we noticed the changes in Ollie. He was steadily gaining
weight, slowly losing all his wires until one day we went to visit and
he had none!
At the age of 7weeks and 5 day Ollie was discharged from hospital
Obviously if i was to write about every moment of our experience i would be here forever and a day.
Once home the worries never stop in fact if I'm truthful they become worse!
I cant say the first year of Ollie's life was easy because it was far from it. Since coming home Ollie had been admitted back into hospital on many occasion mainly due to his reflux and apnea episode he continues to have.
