So January started out pretty well. Ollie recieve his sensory items which were kindly funded through Lifeline 4 Kids . He absolutly loves them!
Daddy decided it was time to make a special room for all his new fancy lights.
And build a sensory room for him. Its a fantastic little room for him to chill out on a bad day.
Physio bought him some fancy new inserts for his boot.... oooo they are so cute

Then the snow came!!!!
Ollie and his brother and sister enjoy many hours out playing in the snow. He loved it so much he cried when we all went in!
Then came the not so good!
We were all struck by a really nasty bug resulting in us all being house bound for just over a week. It was just horrid.
Then there was the 2am visit by the little green men and ride in an ambulance resulting in an over night stay in 'Costa Del NHS'
When you think of croup most people think its a little horseness bit of a barking cough but sever croup can be life threatening! Little Ollie had sever croup! He scared the living daylights out of us all.
Fortunatly after the right treatment Ollie was soon back to doing what he does best......causing chaos on the ward. This boy has a way of bouncing back as quick as he goes down.

Ollie was released the following day and was very much back on form!
Unfortunatly that wasnt the end of it. he developed a chest infection and dinner for the next 7 days consisted of this

The one thing we noticed about Ollie is that no matter how poorly he is, he never stops eating!
2 weeks after finishing the course of antibiotics he just decided that eating must be for the weak as that week to follow he went on a hunger strike. Extreemly worrying for myself though i knew that he would eat when he was hungry it didnt help matters. He was very lathagic, would do nothing but lay in the same place from the moment he got up to the moment he went to sleep! Yet there was absolutly nothing wrong, no sign of illness, even the GP struggled to find anything wrong......Boys eh??
Well im happy to report that a week on Ollie is back to full health eating like a horse and enjoying every mouthful.
He is also now signing. Now Ollie has no communication of sorts. He doesnt speak, he doesnt use gestures or have the ability to let us know what he wants/needs.
For about 5/6 weeks now we have been attending a 'baby sign' course useing BLS (British Sign Language) Now i didnt think he would pick it up at first. We have been teaching him Makaton (a variation of BSL) for the past 1.5 year and he has never showed any for of understanding at all let alone repeat a sign to me. But alas last week he signed 'Milk'..... Was the happiest day of my life and was so proud to share it with the world
Ollie CAN communicate!!!
This week we collected Ollie new wheels.
Now some people may sit an ask why Ollie needs a wheelchair... he can walk!...
Yes Ollie can walk. But the nature of his walking is why he has one.
Ollie has somthing called hypotonia it means low muscle tone and because of this coupled with his development delay his body works 10x as hard to do anything.
Somthing which you wouldnt think twice about... just going for a walk, is difficult for Ollie to perfect. Not to mention that Ollie is very wobbily walker so the safty of him being able to walk come in to play.
I often feel like i have to justify the reasons why we do what we do but the safty of our child is our priority
Yes Ollie can walk he just cant do it for very long, very well or safely!

Another proud moment for us. Ollie was refered for an EEG (Electroencephalography) yep bit of a gob full that!
After the initial bulls up of the first 2 in that we didnt actually make it to the hospital! 3rd time lucky eh? I was really worried at how Ollie would react to it.
He was amazing! So calm so patiant and just sat and let them place all the probes on his head like there was nothing going on! Through out the whole of the recording he sat so nicely, didnt touch the wires one ....nothing! I am so so proud of him. Even the man doing the recording commented how well be haved he was and that he had full grown adult sit and complain moan about this being done. Yet this little 2 year old autistic child sat so calmly......put them all to shame he did!
Result should be with us in a week or so.
Well im hoping this has updated you some on whats been going on in the past 2 months.
It is hard for me to remeber every moment and even harder for me to find the time to sit a write them here
